Nice job and you even framed it well by beginning and ending with the torogoz bird! I can't really buy you a coffee but am appreciating you and cheering you on in every sense of the word! <3
Hi Emily, I'm indulging myself in catching up on Substack reading and your posts are always my first choice; beautiful writing style, interesting content, and very apropos as I can relate to all of your sentiments regarding leaving Canada, having left there at about the same time as you.
It's always easy to do the grass is greener thinking pattern so I must admit it was nice to read about some of your challenges, as I've faced them myself living in my adopted country of México.
I liked your reverse osmosis house water idea and I'll look into installing it in mine... If there's anything advice you have regarding this, I'd love to know...
On the issue of your knee; having faced "body aches and pains" from years of sports, I've recently learnt that sore knees can be caused by weak internal hip rotation. Having tried umpteen exercises and routines and all body work practitioners whilst in Canada, no one even mentioned boring old hip internal rotation exercises, yet, Holy moly, I realized that despite being able to do pretty much any activity I want, this hip thing is certainly an area of weakness. And as the content creator in the video mentions, it is for MANY people.
I'll share the link because well, ya never know... Precision Movement channel
Hi, Taya. Sorry, didn’t see your comment earlier. Yes, we like the water filter a lot. We hired a local plumber guy to install. If we lived within city limits, the hardware store would have sent someone to do it for $40. As for the knee, thanks for the advice. I’ll look into that & try those exercises—anything that might help is useful!
Thanks for another insightful post. I've been curious about health care and I keep hearing similar stories to yours. I will be leaving Canada to try out a winter down there after Christmas. I'm 100% certain now in my decision to go to El Salvador, thanks to expats like you sharing their stories. Cheers!
Hey Em! Love to see how you guys are adapting and enjoying your new tropical lifestyle! And I must admit, I am jealous of your recent healthcare adventure! Healthcare in the states is a mess AND a joke.

Thank you, Delores!
Always appreciate your encouragement :)
I can’t wait to come and I’d love to meet you guys. We’ll be there from July 11-31. We are from Ontario.
That would be great, Charity! Let’s be in touch ☺️

Hi, Pierre. That’s exciting! Keep in touch & we’ll have to meet up when you get here :)

Thanks, Ally…we are! It’s crazy cuz some Canadians are now going to the US to get things done privately, just to stay alive. This article spells it out: https://klarityvipwriters.substack.com/p/waiting-for-healthcare-in-canada
