Holding back the happy tears after reading your piece... thinking about how my own life has also helped prepare me for where I am now. It’s so nice to connect with others doing similar things. Receiving videos and Christmas wishes from those back in Canada, where their lives haven’t really changed very much (if at all), sometimes gives me melancholy... so your lovely writing has pulled me up a bit more today...
I know we’re all just trying to do our best, but when I see others who like myself, have stepped completely out of the comfort zone, I really get a great feeling... I think the (almost) tears are those of pride and a little more hope for the future...

Hey, my hubs worked for CN Rail too and this spring we did a family DTS here. But we’re different from you in that we never dreamed we’d be in Latin America! We do miss the cozy snow time in the north (but not the icy driving).

I love this. I'm late rdg. as I didn't finish posting grades for my online students until 10:30 a.m. Christmas morning. This is great. I didn't realize you'd visited/worked in quite that many settings & am applauding wildly. I've been to Philippines six times usually for 2-3 weeks each and am supporting my third set of orphaned twin girls there--great people and outreaches. Your and Tom's experiences are great foundations for your girls' and your lives going forward. Outstanding. I know you'll keep it up and there are many more good things ahead for you and ways you'll be effective help and influence, too. Have a most blessed and happy 2024!
